baaah [14 Jul 2005|10:31pm] [ music | smb ] yeah so i'm working at an art camp now for teenagers with disabilities. and its WICKED fun. buttt we are having a play/musical thing for the end of camp and we are doing some stuff from Annie. and I'm Annie. HOW GAY. for so many reasons. I'm the cheesiest actress ever. My voice doesn't even sound like a little kid. baaaaah. but I'm the shortest staff member, and I can carry a tune. so yeah. i have to do it. grr. so if you want a good chuckle come to Merrick Moore Elementary School next saturday at 3pm to hardy-har-har yer booties off. this week went by way too fast [02 Jul 2005|11:05am] [ mood | blessed ] [ music | SMB - cry aloud ] thanks to everyone who sent me and jesse mail at camp :) we had to do the "i'm a star" jig in front of entire camp to get our mail. priceless. So fca camp was amazing as usual. the best week of my life. however to my dismay I didn't have a huge spiritual awakening, but I was reminded quite possibly of the most basic and elementary principle of salvation. In order to find God you have to look for Him. And not only do you have to look for Him, but you have to look for Him in places where He is most likely to be. This seems like such a juvenile epiphony yet for some reason I have been overlooking it for the past couple of months. But its so amazing to know that we have such a forgiving and loving God that no matter how much I suck and fail at life, He still loves me. Always. "No power of hell, or scheme of man, could ever pluck me from His hand. I am His and He is mine, here in the power of Christ I stand." So the Shelly Moore Band played at camp just like they did last year when I got their cd. Her lyrics are AMAZING. So me and jesse are forever jammin to Shelly Moore in the car, at home etc...and she was there EVERYDAY doing worship. It was SO cool cause we got to hang out with her every night and Mike her guitar player is SOOOOO cooool too. Last night however was amazing. so amazing. phenomenal. She, her guitar player and this kid David played the jemebe, played on the patio thing outside our dorms and she did almost every song on her cd including number 12 the accapella one which is amayyyyzing. Jesse and I knew every word to every song and she like asked us to sing with her, which was just- there are no words to describe singing with Shelly Moore. I was so adrenalined I couldn't sleep until like 2:30 last night. simply shocking. She was so cool too, we took so many pictures and she even did a funny face picture with me. wow. I think I'm still in shock. So syked, she's opening for Shane and Shane Sunday night in Raleigh so I think Jamie and I are going to go see her. Jesse flew back to florida tonight. I'm so sadddd. I definately felt like a goober cause I started bawling in the airport. haha. It is unreal how much I love this girl. Her flight was supposed to leave at 8 but she called me at 9, her flight was delayed and she just left a little bit before 10. poor kid. its her first time flying and I definately would be freaking out if this was happening to me my first time flying. I'm worried aboot her. SO hope everyone is having a great summer so far...this one has definately picked up GREATLY since Girl's state. chyeah. baaaam [24 Jun 2005|10:46am] [ mood | contemplative ] [ music | i still have that bra on my head in the picha ] Basically I have decided what I want to do with the rest of my life. *CHEERS* AUTISM RESEARCH! and there are two approaches to this career field. the intervention method which catches autistic children at the age of no more than 46 months and through hours of therapy and training eventually brings them up to functioning level of that of their peers. This is good because this creates more functioning members of society and increases the childs success in todays world. I cant really tell you why this is bad, except to me it kind of is like, "hey we want to make you 'normal'" and we all know that normal is a theoretical concept which doesn't really exist. hmmm. the other method is the therapeutic method or which was described to me from a UNC-CH TEACCH facilitator as, "we embrace the autism as a part of the persons personality and individuality and through clinical experiences we intend to help the individual function as a person with autism rather than an autistic person". Good, because it doesn't attempt to change the person and keeps their individuality and any genius-like phenomena which may result from overdevelopment of the brain...however you have more lower functioning members in society and require more specialized areas and facilities to work with people of this mental caliber. I can't really say which method I lean more towards, but I need to take a stand if I intend to do this as a career. hmm. so what do you guys think? do either of these jump out as morally WRONG?! of course most of my conclusions about its effect on society are mere opinion and hypothetical effects, but long term are indeed possible. so yeah. im confuzzled. post away. i need help. :) 6 sing  stare

if you don't like my apples then don't shake my tree [22 Jun 2005|10:10am] [ mood | energetic ] [ music | lalaalalala ] longest day of the summer so far lots of rebellious autistic teens who didn't want to cooperate today and the day drug on and on and on and on and on but we went swimming and there was a really really really attractive lifeguard and he made it all better just by sitting up on his stand and looking like an attractive lifeguard. came back from swimming and took my break and ran a mile and a half on the indoor track and did crunches and felt like a BEAST theeeennnn chilled for the rest of the day. im officially the only heterosexual female that works for DPR except for lora. yeah. they are ALL lesbos. robyn was outed today by corey. so awkward. **is a homophobe** went to a teacch training at lyon park from 6-7:30, fun fun. katie was there and she was fun to sit next to. she's the sweetest. i introduced myself to the lady and she told me about more volunteer opportunities. yaaaaaaaaay. went to the track and met anthony and mary and her BOYFRIEND. they are so cute. she is such the smitten kitten. and it wasn't as awkward as i thought it would be, but yeah, walked like 5 miles. my legs are so sore. BUT gary taught me basic chord theory the other day on the piana...so i've been jamming and singing along. its wonderful to be able to sing and play at the same time. wow. bah. [06 Jun 2005|09:03am] [ mood | confident ] [ music | DC3 - independant women, YO! ] YOLA! this week was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay awesome. got to see my george watts kids ALOT. and I'm gonna have brandon, trevon and savion all at EJ this WHOLE WEEK! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! weekend was guhreat. Special Olympic State games were this weekend at NCSU. a lot alot alot alot of fun. I went with track and we got lots of gold medals. i wish my computer had the kodak software on it, i'd post some cool pics of my athletes, but my windows 98'd computer is being a wack wacky wackyyyyy piece. anthony siler made a surprise visit at state games, he coaches power lifting. mmyeah. homeboy was in my homebase in 8th grade and threw a piece of paper at me one day, hit me in the head and it said "Would it be weird if i asked you out?". I vividly remember nodding and throwing the paper back at him. so yeah. homeboys a little cuter now, not really any less annoying but it was cool to hang out with him. he got my number off the coach's sheet and called me like 57937892579823579382 times to tell me he was on the way to the dance we have on saturday night. haha. cute kid. not really feelin the whole, "lets see if i can impress you with my big pick up truck" thing...but he bought me a frappuccino. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. :) haha. so basically this is what i've come to think. I am so freaking busy all the time i really don't have time for guys. i barely have time for my friends. which makes me sad. but I'm trying to get 100 volunteer hours this summer, all whilst working 40 hours a week and spending one week at girl's state, one week at fca camp and also trying to read 10 books for AP english. in all honesty I have no time and I can't believe I let the whole pressure of having to have a boyfriend to define me get to me. Over the next couple of months college apps need to be sent in and scholarship stuff and ridiculous amounts of just random WORK i have to do, I don't have time for a lovelife. so, WOO HOO! :) Here's to being fully dedicated to my JOB and giving 100% to my kids (not like the 50% i gave to my after school kids). getting my 100 volunteer hours and learning something in the process. and reading all freaking 10 books. gosh. right now i need to focus on me and my future. so yeah. independant women. chyeah. :) <3 haha. wowzas. so has anyone seen any good movies lately? 5 sing  stare

IM SO HAPPY BABY [02 Jun 2005|11:14am] [ mood | satisfied ] [ music | con mana se rompe ] +FCA camp is officially happening and jesse is coming june 24 +im working at edison johnson in june instead of lyon park cause a bunch of ppl quit so they asked me to work with brandon, trevon and savion..YAY! +I've read 2/10 of my summer reading books and its only june 1 +i got my report card, all A's and one C. damn pre cal. 4.089 beeyotches :) +applying to uncg for early nonbinding admission thing, only got $45 to lose... all if i dont get into unc-ch +special olympic state games are this weekend +im getting cpr/first aid certified on saturday +i've made $350 dollars this week...(FCA CAMP is $325...so i have $25 left to buy gas) +i got to hang out at george watts today with my favorite special ed kids...i <3 them. +Lance's mom offered me $150 dollars a week to take care of her kids this summer, too bad I make $280 a week with parks and rec, otherwise i'd tap that. (haha) those kids are adorable. +I'm helping lance's mom find a day care for him since she waited till the last minute to enroll him in a DPR camp... +i got all kinds of fun dress up clothes for girl's state and 2 pairs of new shoes...weeeeeee +did i mention jesse was coming?!?! +jamie and mary are amazing and i love them. and brian too cause he's always with the bird +jamie made me a cool latino cd...si si si yo quiero mambo, mambo +i got a new convertible bra, its so cool i had to include that. +I THINK THINGS ARE GOING TO WORK OUT AT TEACCH!!
